youth Speak: Questions About Faith

The following questions were put to our Tuesday Club members. Working in pairs each group were given the same set of questions. Discussion formed an important part of the excercise, each person having the opportunity to express their views openly, honestly and without fear of redicule. What we have published here below is the culminated efforts of those who attended Tuesday Club that evening.

Why did Jesus die?

To save us all from our sins
To save people who accepted Him
Jesus did suffer on the cross but when we see this symbol we see new life and healing, not suffering and pain

What are the fun bits about your church?

It includes all ages
All the clubs that are jointed to it
Friendly people that will always accept you
Activities (e.g. craft)
Eating together (Soul Café & Messy Harvest)

How do you know God is there?

Prayer being answered
By what the Bible tells us
By your heart
By knowing all the other Christians believe

Why is prayer important?

You are displaying your faith
Getting things off your chest to God
Being thankful for everything
Comfort in times of need
Keeps you sane, your not thinking about bad things, you are sharing your pain

Why should you go to church?

To be yourself, one with God
Comfort
Security
Sharing your belief
Pray with / for other people
Acceptance
Praying together
Praise for the heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Meet and spend time with people who are like you

What is the point of being a Christian?

Freedom
Finding forgiveness
That is what you believe
Being accepted for yourself: at school you act differently
Find security
Being in a community

What’s good about your church?

I get to meet my friends from the village linked with church
Welcoming
It has a Vicar who is a good sport
Lots of activity for all ages
There is going to be a youth WEBSITE
Comforting
Familiar
Open
Monthly coffee mornings

How do you hear God?

Through the Holy Spirit
When I am upset I feel God talking to me
Through the Bible
Prayer

Friends being near
